Community Manager
Islands is a technology company that builds economic infrastructure for the community economy. Communities of all sizes can use our software to manage digital assets and pay people and projects globally. Our vision is to create a new community platform that is open and accessible.
We are funded by major VC funds and individuals such as founders and executives from Reddit, Solana, Polygon, Coinbase, Twitch, Shopify, Notion and more.
We are looking to hire an experienced community manager to help us drive both the strategy and execution of Islands’ community. Succeeding in this role will require effectively balancing the immediate needs of the business and consumers while making progress against long term strategic efforts that will help unlock economic value for creators and their communities. You will help Islands create and scale a community where creators can go to learn from other creators and give feedback on upcoming Islands products.
We’re particularly interested in hearing from candidates with prior experience starting, managing, and cultivating an online community for a tech product/project.
Our Community Manager can be based anywhere in the US, but ideally is in Los Angeles, CA.
Hereβs what your day to day looks like:
- Launch, manage, and grow Islands’ community
- Create internal playbook and SOPs to achieve workflow productivity, reliability, and clarity
- Develop, maintain, and regularly report on success metrics that measure the operational health, performance, and effectiveness of the community
- Deeply understand how creators use Islands to build a business around content, commerce, and community
Weβre looking for someone who:
- Has built, managed, and cultivated communities from scratch with clear KPIs
- Has experience with Twitter and Discord
- Thrives on a high level of autonomy, responsibility, and ownership
- Can listen well and internalize the best ideas from all over the organization, as well as empathize with users and quickly grasp the issues theyβre facing
- Is comfortable designing and implementing processes – both building on existing processes and creating new ones from scratch
- Is comfortable with analyzing data and driving insights and action plans
- Has a growth mindset
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- Takes initiative and is comfortable scoping, driving and executing on projects
- Is a strong writer – you need to be fluent and highly proficient in English
- Is curious, enjoys learning about technical concepts and products, and is excited by the challenge of solving difficult problems for users
Bonus if you have this:
- You’ve previously been an early employee, founder, or leader at a startup
- You’ve previously been a community lead at a leading NFT PFP project
- You have a deep understanding of what’s going on in the NFT and DAO space
