About the role

We are seeking passionate and skilled DevOps engineer to help evolve and scale our products to meet the growing needs of our customers. As an Mid Level DevOps Engineer at Zumo, you will play an essential role in our journey from start-up to scale-up. With your passion for DevOps and 3-4 years of experience delivering outstanding results in product teams, you will contribute to the evolution and scaling of our products. You’ll work with a talented team and leverage your knowledge to optimise our infrastructure on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Additionally, your experience with Python and Bash will enable you to develop automation scripts and enhance our deployment pipelines. Familiarity with microservices architecture will help ensure the efficiency and scalability of our systems.

While we always seek the most suitable tech stack for achieving desired outcomes, our current baseline includes TypeScript, Node.js, PHP using Symfony, React Native, Swift, Objective-C, Java, and PostgreSQL. Our products run on the AWS cloud, with Kubernetes orchestrating the infrastructure.

 

As a member of the Platform team, you will be responsible for ensuring code quality and reliability. You’ll have opportunities for regular code reviews, engaging in tech peer discussions, and leveraging our automated testing infrastructure. Beyond your day-to-day responsibilities, your expertise and insights will be highly valued in shaping decisions related to processes, technologies, and tools. Your contributions will be instrumental in identifying improvement opportunities and proposing solutions to enhance the overall quality of our infrastructure, products, and services.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure.
• Optimise our infrastructure on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, leveraging your 2+ years of production experience.
• Develop automation scripts using Python and Bash to enhance deployment pipelines and streamline operations.
• Implement best practices for microservices architecture to ensure efficient and scalable system.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including code reviews, testing, and performance optimisation.
• Work collaboratively with the team to deliver outstanding results and meet business objectives.

Requirements

• 3-4 years of experience as a passionate DevOps Engineer, delivering outstanding results in product teams.
• Experience in a successful start-up to scale-up journey.
• 2+ years of production experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or relevant Amazon certificates.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash, enabling you to develop automation scripts and enhance deployment pipelines.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and its principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a focus on teamwork and shared success.
• A genuine desire to contribute to the growth and success of our products.
• Passion for technology and eagerness to explore and learn new tools and techniques.
