Portabl is building tools that enable consumers to view, share, and manage their personal and financial data anywhere in their financial lives, whether that’s web2, web3, or somewhere in between. Connecting to all types of financial services must be easier, more transparent, and more trustworthy.

Signing up for apps and services should be as easy as signing into them. And updating information across apps shouldn’t take signing into each one to make the same update. We think that’s nuts, even thought we’ve all done it for years.

 

We provide APIs, SDKs, and storage tools to financial services providers built on top of well-tested decentralized standards that focus on encryption and privacy preservation. We also offer both custodial and non-custodial options for consumers to access, protect, and update their data within accounts or within our ID wallet.

 

We hope that by reshaping what it means to share identity information, we can simplify and automate many parts of the identity/ KYC/ compliance stack that currently prevent the financial system from being more cost-effective, more inclusive, and more equitable.

We’re a small team comprised of Web2 and Web3 veterans hailing from Consensys, Arachnys, US Mobile, Ava Labs, and other corners of the fintech and regtech universe who share a common goal of making identity more standardized, composable, and easier to use across the financial services space.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will join a team that’s using the latest developments in decentralized identity to make financial access easier, more transparent, and more trustworthy.

 

You will…

• Develop best-in-class identity management tooling for both financial services providers and their customers
• Evolve the architecture for existing web products and lay the foundation for future ones.
• Communicate closely with product and design to create high quality experiences.
• Contribute to public documentation and support efforts to build a developer community

What you’ll bring

We are an early-stage startup, so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable with ambiguity and has a strong desire to work both autonomously and in groups. You will have a ton of say and impact on the direction and future of our company and will help solve some of the biggest challenges we’ll face.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in front-end development
• Strong expertise in React, Javascript, and Typescript
• Strong experience working with applications that consume REST & GraphQL APIs
• Experience building web-based dashboards, low-code configurations, and/or admin tools for API-first products from start to finish
• Interest and appetite for learning the latest trends and specifications in decentralized identity

Bonus points!

• Prior experience in decentralized identity standards, e.g. verifiable credentials, zcap-ld, BBS+, etc.
• Prior work shipping B2C products in the finance, crypto, or security space
• Know Your Customer (KYC) or Identity Verification (IDV) industry knowledge or experience
• A burning desire to move consumers off of using passwords and knowledge-based-authentication
